Who We Are

About the
Memory Systems Team

For over a decade, we've been at the forefront of memory system research at Europe's leading supercomputing center.

Context

Part of Barcelona Supercomputing Center

We are part of the Computer Architecture department at BSC-CNS, Spain's national supercomputing center and a leading European research institution in high-performance computing.

In state-of-the-art HPC and AI architectures, memory systems play a crucial role in determining overall system performance. They have also become major contributors to power demands, energy consumption, and operational costs of large-scale computing infrastructures.

Furthermore, as DRAM technology scales and main memory capacity increases, the likelihood of DRAM errors has grown, becoming a frequent cause of system failures in the field.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center recognizes the critical need for advanced research on memory systems for HPC and AI. For over a decade, our research has addressed challenges in designing and optimizing next-generation memory systems for large-scale computing.
