Funded Research
Research Projects
European, national, and industrial grants supporting our memory systems research over the past decade.
Active Projects
Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe (DARE)
A €240M large-scale European Supercomputing project with 38 partners developing prototype HPC and AI systems based on EU-designed industry-standard chiplets. BSC leads this 3-year initiative to create a complete supercomputing compute stack with high-performance, energy-efficient processors designed in Europe. DARE is the first phase of a 6+ year HPC-specific European Framework Partnership Agreement program.

Barcelona Zettascale Lab (BZL)
BSC leads the Barcelona Zettascale Laboratory to enhance Europe's capacity in designing high-performance computing chips based on RISC-V technology. The laboratory develops advanced processor prototypes for future European supercomputers, reducing dependence on third-party hardware and supporting open-source architecture development. Funded by the PERTE microelectronics program under NextGenerationEU, BZL collaborates with national and European partners to strengthen technological sovereignty.
